Haha oh man. The history I have with this spoon goes back to the start of my career. I first found this spoon on a “junk $1 shelf” in a small antique shop during my last year of college (my first year of spoon smithing). I couldn’t see the design on the piece and decided to take a chance. I took the spoon home and carefully cleaned the piece revealing an angel with a “universal piece” sign at her waist. I made the spoon into a ring and it quickly sold. Fast forward to early 2017. I finally found another spoon with the same design. I knew this time I was not going to let her go until I found a way to make her into a precious metal. She originally was made in silver plate. To help elevate the design and feel I went to an outside source to get her 3D copied. This allowed us to make a digital STL image. From there we made her smaller in size (the original spoon is very large). With the help of my friend Eric we milled the image onto a wax piece. Once the wax piece is milled we start the casting process. Creating a clay like substance we stuck the piece in the middle with a “line” running to the design. The clay is heated causing the wax to melt away leaving a negative space of the original spoon. Next we weigh and heat just enough silver and pour it down the line. This creates a perfect sterling silver copy. To prep the spoon I clean it carefully by cutting and sanding away the line. From there I follow the steps I use to make the perfect spoon ring.
This is a copy of the original piece that is only found in silver plate. By using the milling and casting process I have elevated the design to a precious sterling spoon ring that is smaller in size making it a comfortable fit. We also have this available in gold ranging from rose gold to 24k. If you are interested please send me a message and I will send you the price in a private message.

Aaron Paul can re-size any spoon ring to fit your finger free of charge. He takes great care in carefully cleaning each spoon and uniquely turning it into a piece of history you can wear. Each piece of silverware Aaron Paul uses dates back between the early 1800’s to mid 1900’s with a majority of the patterns between 1880’s to 1930’s.
My goal as an artist is to not only show the beauty and history of each piece of art but also the beauty of the person that wears this ring. I believe every person has a unique identity. With this identity and skills learned throughout life they can go into the world and shed light into dark places. My hope is that my art will help remind each person how unique they are and how they are one of a kind.
